With the Bible Garden of St. Alexander's Church in Wildeshausen, we aim to revive the ancient and long-standing tradition of monastery gardens. The Hunte River flows through diverse landscapes in Lower Saxony: from Lake Dümmer through the Wildeshausen Geest and the towns of Wildeshausen and Oldenburg. Northwest of Bremen, it reaches the Weser River.

Burgwiese City Park, the former town site of Wildeshausen Castle, hosts regular events such as Summer Culture (every Sunday morning during the summer months) and the opening event of the Guild Festival on Whitsun Sunday, with a tattoo and fireworks. The bandshell, a fountain, a Kneipp pool, a large green area, a children's playground, and its direct location on the Hunte River make Burgwiese a central meeting place in the climatic health resort. The "Altes Amtshaus" (Old Office Building) is a baroque clay-timbered building dating from 1730 and located behind St. Alexander's Church on the "Herrlichkeit" square. It was built as an official residence after Wildeshausen became part of the Electorate of Hanover in 1719. Later, the land registry office and the district court were housed here. Today, the "Altes Amtshaus" houses a charming restaurant with a beautiful garden in the idyllic neighborhood of St. Alexander's Church and other historic buildings. Wildeshausen was more important than Oldenburg in the Middle Ages and received Bremen town charter in 1270. After belonging to the Diocese of Bremen, it then became part of the Diocese of Münster in the late Middle Ages, then Brunswick-Lüneburg in 1678, and then the Duchy of Oldenburg in 1803. The one- and two-story Gothic brick building, facing St. Alexander's Church and oriented north-south, with a gable roof, dates back to the 14th century. The interior was remodeled in the 1930s; the extensions are more recent, the council chamber is essentially 16th century, and the fire station probably dates back to the 18th century. Both were largely rebuilt between 1934 and 1936, while the guardhouse was probably rebuilt at the end of the 19th century, after 1936. The upper hall now serves as an event space. The Wachtmann House, a town house in Wildeshausen, located at Sägekuhle 5 next to St. Alexander's Church, probably dates back to the second half of the 17th century. It has been the town's youth center since 1991. This single-story, half-timbered farmer's house with plaster infills on the gable and a gable roof probably dates back to the second half of the 17th century. It has its entrance on the right side. The original interior and exterior structures have been preserved. It was originally longer to the west, where a small extension with a gable roof now stands.
