Open during the day. 1614 is the oldest date in the history of the pilgrimage site of Our Lady of the Snows. The veneration of the Mother of God was first documented in 1756. The statue of grace also dates from this period. Empress Maria Theresa donated a piece of the cross to the church, which is still in use today.

Here I was once again particularly lucky. A woman from the settlement noticed my interest in the chapel, so we started talking, and she opened the chapel for me. The chapel was built when a fire raged through the settlement in 1961, destroying only one house, exactly on the spot where the chapel was later built. Each year, a different family from the settlement is responsible for the chapel, and mass is only held there once a year, in May. Then I was able to find out where the best view of the Wechsel and the Schneeberg mountains is. People come together through conversation.

The route from Blumau to Lichtenegg is a wonderfully quiet, albeit steadily uphill, cycling route. However, the only rest area is in Thal, near the chapel. From Blumau to Thal, there is virtually no traffic; from Thal onward, there is very little traffic, but it's no longer lonely. If you want to take a break, you should do so here, either at the inn or on the bench in front of the chapel. There are no other options on this approximately 15 km stretch.
