The Hubertus Chapel has stood in a beautiful location on a large rock since 1916. The wooden chapel was built by Austrian soldiers in memory of those killed in action and those buried by avalanches.

You can reach the beautiful high valley of the Obere Wolayeralm after a steep climb from the Lesachtal Valley, or after a descent from Lake Wolayer. The path is winding and steep before and after the alpine pasture, so this short flat section provides a relaxing break on both the descent and the ascent.

Only recommended if the meadow and forest paths below the Lackenalm have been mown. Today we fought our way through chest-high nettles, wild blackberries and all kinds of bushes as tall as a man; the gravelled and very narrow path (40 cm wide) was mostly only visible. Unfortunately I wasn't wearing long hiking trousers, so I was very badly stung and scratched. The hiking path is therefore not recommended for small children. Only wear shorts on the forest path. Otherwise it is very beautiful up on the Alm and at the Lackenkreuz, nice dairymaid and great view.
