The orangery is considered one of the largest and most beautiful baroque orangery complexes in Germany. Its origins go back to 1711. The current complex was built between 1747 and 1774 according to plans by the master builder Gottfried Heinrich Krone for Duke Friedrich III of Saxony Gotha Altenburg (source: Orangerie-Gotha.de).
