The romantic body of water in a small forest area owes its origin to a quarry that existed here until 40 years ago. Fine-grained reed sandstone, which was well suited for building, was mined in the quarry. The origin of the reed sandstone is explained by geologists with a large river system, which flowed through Europe more than 200 million years ago and flowed to a primordial sea in today's Alpine region.
