It looks beautiful even in winter: Red and white

Schwellenburg is a dry grassland nature reserve north of Erfurt and offers a wonderful panorama of the surrounding area, extending as far as Erfurt and the northern Thuringian Basin, as far as the Schrecke, Kyffhäuser, and Heilinger Heights. A must-see for nature lovers.

The fountain supplies drinking water, except in the winter months. In 1991/1992, after the political change, the Minerva, which was in dire need of renovation, was renovated with funds (33,000 DM) from the Association of Homeland Loyal Erfurters from West Germany. For this, the city of Erfurt thanks the association and its then chairman, Dr. Lorenz Drehmann, on a small plaque on the back of the monument's base. The work was carried out by the Erfurt branch of the Chemnitz monument preservation and restoration company. On the occasion of the last meeting of the Association of Homeland Loyal Erfurters, the restored Minerva fountain was ceremoniously handed back to the citizens of Erfurt on September 5, 1992 as a gift for the 1250th anniversary celebrations. This fulfilled the request of Erfurt's mayor Manfred Ruge to the association's members at their meeting in Mainz in 1990.[1] The Minerva statue had to be repaired several times between 2004 and 2011 due to random damage. At this point / I would like to quickly / say something about the source (whereby it corresponds to the art of poetry / if this 'source' is a 'well'): To quote the incomparable humorist Heinz Erhardt (1909 - 1979), who was known to a wide audience for his word jokes and "Noch'n poem", with a short quatrain: "There is certainly much beauty in on the element, the wet. A really nice place to relax with a bench to rest on. With a bit of luck you can discover a lot here, for example dippers, stilts and kingfishers. Unfortunately, some people also leave their rubbish behind and the Gera also washes it up, which is less nice. But for nature lovers it is an oasis.
