Mecklenburg's thickest beech tree, with a trunk circumference of 8 meters, is dying!

The Shepherd's Beech is a red beech in the municipality of Dobbin-Linstow in the Rostock district. With a trunk circumference of over 8 meters and a height of 23 meters, it is one of the largest known beech trees in the state of Mecklenburg-Western Pomerania. This remarkable and special landmark in the field was designated a natural monument in 1987 by a resolution of the Güstrow district council.
