The Boitin Stone Dance is one of the most famous archaeological monuments in Mecklenburg-Western Pomerania. It consists of four stone circles. The stone circles are located in the Tarnow district of Boitin, near the town of Bützow - in the forest, on a straight stretch between Tarnow and Zernin (approx. 2.2 km). The Boitin Stone Dance consists of three stone circles that are close together and a stone circle about 100 m opposite. Lake Garda is about two kilometers west of Lohmen. This natural lake is located in a hilly terminal moraine landscape in the Mittleres Mildenitztal landscape protection area and is therefore also part of the Sternberg lake landscape. Boitin Steintanz Eines der bekanntesten Bodendenkmale in Mecklenburg Vorpommern ist der aus insgesamt vier Steinkreisen bestehende sogenannte Steintanz von Boitin. Eine archäologische Sondierung durch den schweizer Gymnasialprofessor und Archäologen R. Beltz imJare 1929 brachte eine Urnenbestattung aus der älleren vorrömischen Eisenzeit- 600-400 vdz) zu Tage. Ähnliche Anlagen im nördlichen Milteleuropa und darüber hinaus lassen den Schluss zu, dass es sich ausschiesslich um Grabanlagen handet. Der Steintanz ist das einzige Denkmal aus germanischer Zeit, das weltgehend erhalter blieb. Die Sage vom Boitiner Steintanz Das Dorf Dreetz lag früher in der unmittlebaren Nähe des Steintanzes. Einst wurde in Dreetz eine prächlige Bauernhochzeit gefeiert. Es ging hoch her und alle waren lustig und vergnügt. In ihrem Übermut kamen einige Bauern auf den Gedanken mit Würsten Broten und Kuchen Kegeln zu spielen. Bevor sie damit begannen ermahnte sie ein Geist der in Gestalt eines alten Mannes bei dem Fest erschien. Er forderte sie auf diesen Frevel zu beenden. Die Bauern hörten aber nicht auf ihn und verspoteten in ihrem Übermut den alten Mann. Zur Strafe darauf wurden alle Festteilnehmer in Steine verwandelt (Grosser Steintanz) In der Nähe des Festplatzes war ein Schäfer mit seinem Hund und einer Herde Schafe. Er hatte dem Festgeschehen zugeschaut, sich aber nicht an dem Kegelspiel beteiligt. Er war dann von dem alten Mann aufgefortert worden, sofort mit den Schafen zu fliehen und sich nicht mehr umzublicken. Der Schäfer befolgte den Rat des Geistes. Als er dann schon ein Stück vom Festplatz entfernt war, liess in die Neugierde nicht ruhen. Um das Verbot zu umgehen (sich nicht umzudrehen) bückte er sich und sah zwischen seinen Beinen durch. Im gleichen Augenblick wurde er und sein Hund und die Herde auch zu Stein (kleiner Steintanz) Am Johannestag (24. Juni) soll aus der Brautlade (12. Loch des grössten Steines) ein roter Faden heraus hängen. Wer Mut hat, ihn um Mitternacht herauszuziehen, kann all die erlösen und den Schatz, der in der Brautlade liegt behalten.
