The Buchstein rocks are a protected natural monument and a geotope located near Bayreuth. This striking rock formation consists of sandstone from the so-called Bayreuth Formation (Rhaetian-Lias or lowest Lias). The rocks, reaching up to 10 meters in height, exhibit particularly beautiful cross-bedding, honeycomb weathering, and limonite crystallization. A popular hiking destination, the rocks are characterized by their location in the middle of a forest and constantly offer new perspectives due to weathering processes. A historic water reservoir dating from 1893 is also located nearby.

The facility is really well done. Everything you need to have fun is there in a small, fine and compact way. Whether you just want to practice jumping, drops, berms, tree trunks for balancing - a good selection. There are two ways back to the start, one flatter but a bit longer, everything is well signposted. Big compliments to the builders. 👍

For those arriving by car, there is the possibility to park directly nearby at the Südfriedhof.

Super nice single trail that can be driven flowig. However, with many roots, it is probably less recommended for beginners and should be approached with caution when it is wet.

Super trail, a bit rooty, can also be driven uphill.
