The Buchstein rocks are a protected natural monument and a geotope located near Bayreuth. This striking rock formation consists of sandstone from the so-called Bayreuth Formation (Rhaetian-Lias or lowest Lias). The rocks, reaching up to 10 meters in height, exhibit particularly beautiful cross-bedding, honeycomb weathering, and limonite crystallization. A popular hiking destination, the rocks are characterized by their location in the middle of a forest and constantly offer new perspectives due to weathering processes. A historic water reservoir dating from 1893 is also located nearby.

Bierstadt Trails "Fu Trail" section, a little more challenging

The first section of the FU trail is good for warming up. Also suitable for beginners. The second section has two steep funnels, but you can avoid them. In the third section there are two extremely steep drops that require a lot of riding skills. This is definitely only for advanced riders.

The first part is relatively easy, and you can then exit directly onto the forest road again. After that, there are some steep sections with an interesting climb, all of which are manageable, but definitely not for the inexperienced!

The upper part is nice and flowy with a few small jumps and easy turns. The middle part is more challenging with technical finesse, absolutely not for beginners and "I'll stay squat" riders!
