Originally, the grounds were the private garden of Christian Wilhelm Jamm, who bequeathed the property to the city of Lahr in 1875. Even then, the goal was to "preserve and develop the garden as a public city park." Over time, the park has been redesigned several times, with a rose garden, animal enclosure, Mediterranean terrace, cactus garden, etc. In 2025, the park will celebrate its 150th anniversary as a public park.

Originally, the Lahr City Park was the private garden of the Lahr citizen Christian Wilhelm Jamm, who bequeathed it to the city after his death in 1875. Since then, the grounds have been continually expanded and carefully enriched with a variety of different garden designs of a high horticultural standard. Today, the 4.5 hectare park offers gardening fun for the whole family.

The former faschinat is now a defensive structure and probably a ford at low water.
