If you don't know what to do with the abbreviation "FFH" in the highlight name: This is a "flora-fauna-habitat area", so named after a Europe-wide EU law for nature and landscape protection from 1992. It is officially called "Directive 92/43/EEC for the conservation of natural habitats and wild animals and plants", which adequately describes its meaning and purpose. In order to be designated as such an FFH area, special requirements must be met so that plants (flora) and animals (fauna) can be protected in this habitat. In Germany alone there are already more than four and a half thousand FFH areas.
