The station houses a forest restaurant called "Waldgeist". Nice ambience, but I didn't go in and can't say anything about the food.

I have already ridden a racing bike in Albania and Vietnam, but I would not recommend this road to anyone: 1. 3-4 lane highway-style road 2. Therefore, many drivers take the predominant speed limit of 80 kmh as a recommendation 3. No hard shoulder (there are one or two lay-bys and a forest path that leads off. 4. Iron Hand sounds great, but there is nothing to see here. The only good thing is the exit to Wiesbaden. But since it is one lane, you will be overtaken by lots of cars. My conclusion: I wouldn't drive here again.

There is a nice beer garden here. If you want to eat well, there is enough space inside too

There is now a restaurant in the station building that is worth visiting. The prices are still quite good and the dishes are very large.

The former Eiserne Hand station was built at the top of the pass, where the railway line crosses the main ridge of the Taunus between the Rhine and Aar valleys. From approx. 190 meters above sea level in Wiesbaden, the route has climbed up to 420 meters here. In the opening year of 1889, this was the steepest German railway line that was not a rack railway. The Eiserne Hand station was also the highest station in the Taunus.

The Eiserne Hand station is on the Aartalbahn in the Hessian town of Taunusstein. It was opened towards the end of the 19th century on the Wiesbaden–Langenschwalbach section. The Iron Hand, a pass over the main Taunus ridge, gave it its name. The station was mainly used for excursion traffic and is used as a stop for a museum railway, although the current situation on the route does not permit any traffic. It is the highest railway station in the Taunus and a cultural monument of the Rheingau-Taunus district. (Wikipedia)

Seen from Wiesbaden, the lowest point over the main Taunus ridge was a cut called the Iron Hand. It is about 100 meters lower than the surrounding, heavily wooded Taunus mountains. This advantage was taken into account when planning the route of the Aartalbahn and thus the local recreation area around the Schläferskopf was better connected to the spa town of Wiesbaden in terms of tourism. At 421 m above sea level, the Eiserne Hand station is the highest point on the Aartalbahn and the highest station in the entire Taunus. The station building was a two-storey clinker building with a waiting room and an extension that housed a restaurant. In 2004 the station was severely damaged by fire, but was rebuilt. The station clock is said to still be in its original condition. Even after the closure of operations on the railway line, the station building is used as a popular excursion restaurant. In the 1960s, the original tracks in the station were removed and the station was converted into a halt. Source: https://lostplacewunderland.wordpress.com/2018/11/02/aartalbahn-bahnhof-eiserne-hand/
