When we were there, they were setting up a play. The castle is beautiful, offers magnificent views, and I recommend climbing the towers.

The beautiful castle complex is open to the public during opening hours, and the towers are also accessible. A castle festival is also held in the summer. From the castle, there are—as you would expect—great views of the surrounding countryside.

The castle is quaint and is surrounded by beautiful surroundings. - For people coming from further afield, a trip to Limburg with its beautiful old town is recommended.

The castle is really quaint and worth a visit because of the beautiful nature that surrounds it; there is no admission charge.

Be careful, it is still being renovated. We were there today and unfortunately could only admire the great castle from the outside. Tip: you can see a bench on the opposite slope. There is a beautiful trail leading there and you have a great view of the castle from there. Great place for a snack break...

A pleasure garden at Idstein Castle can be traced back to at least 1566 in this area. Count Johannes in particular promoted the complex from around 1650 by building artificial grottoes, purchasing exotic and valuable plants and professionally caring for the beds. He commissioned painters to create colorful views of the garden and flowers. Today the garden is an urban green space, designed according to historical models.

The residential palace of the counts and princes of Nassau-Idstein, built in the Renaissance style, a beautiful photo opportunity and can be visited as part of guided tours, was built mainly between 1614 and 1634 using parts of a previous building. After the Naussau-Idstein line expired in 1721, the castle served various purposes, including being used as a central archive, hospital and barracks for the French occupation (1919-1925). In 1946, the newly founded Pestalozzi School, an advanced school with a boarding school, was set up here. Between 1988 and 1992 the castle was completely renovated and its space requirements and layout were largely adapted to the requirements of a modern school. Today the Pestalozzi School is housed there as a high school for the Rheingau-Taunus district (5th to 13th school years).
