The ruins of Bramberg Castle are located within the Haßberge Nature Park on the summit of the 494.3-meter-high Bramberg, an extinct volcanic cone of the Heldburg Gangschar, approximately 2 kilometers northwest of the village of Bramberg, a western district of Ebern, and about 5 kilometers (as the crow flies) northeast of the city of Königsberg in Bavaria. The Zabelstein ruins are a wonderful place. The remains of the castle, the rest area with kiosk and the observation tower are inviting. A childhood memory!

Todays use The lake is now used as a local recreation area. Large parts are open to swimming, diving, sailing and fishing. The remaining areas are created as biotopes and designated as nature reserves. Another use is as water retention to avoid flooding in spring when the snow melts and to feed the Sauerquellebach with enough water in the dry times in summer and autumn. With a total area of 33 hectares, the lake is the largest reservoir in Lower Franconia.[1] It is surrounded by forest all around. The circular route is 4.4 km long. Parts of the north shore of the lake have sunbathing areas, a sandy beach and bathing jetties. In 1983 and 2022 the lake was completely drained for renovation work. After a ground closure was built in 2022, the reservoir no longer needs to be completely emptied in the event of renovation work. The Ursee near Königsberg in Bavaria is a real insider tip for anyone looking for relaxation and nature. With an area of around 8 square kilometers, it is smaller than other lakes in the region, but it offers all the more peace and seclusion. Here you can hike, fish, swim or just stroll along the shore and enjoy the beautiful scenery. And if you're hungry or thirsty, there's a visit to the nearby Urseehaus, a historic inn overlooking the lake.

The lake is currently without water. Dredgers are still working the banks. Perhaps the flooding of the lake can begin in 2023.
