A beautiful, protected beech forest... especially refreshing in the woods during the summer.

A truly beautiful beech forest. Perfect for summer. The forest is dense and protects from strong sunlight. In spring, you can snack on the tender leaves from the trees.

The area is particularly characterized by wavy to strongly moving end moraine ridges, on which a near-natural, acidic to alkaline-rich lowland beech forest with its characteristic plant and animal species grows as a natural managed forest. These include large areas of continuous brush grass and hairbrush beech forests with hints of woodruff beech forests, which are among the largest beech forest complexes in the lowlands of Lower Saxony and are characterized by a high diversity of species and structures typical of the habitat. In the Rosengarten state forest, 1750 m west of the forestry office, on a hill above a steep ridge of terrain stands the Karlstein, a mighty, medium-coarse reddish-gray granite (>1.9 x 2.5 x 2.2 m), which has been astonishing for centuries excited. It was less the size of the stone than the deep grooves and the “imprints” of horseshoes that aroused interest early on. Stones with horseshoe symbols can be found in various places. The next stone was in Regesbostel, Harburg district. Worth remembering are the Rosstrappe in the Harz and the Bickelstein near Wittingen. There is currently no objective explanation for these signs. Imposing stone that lies in the middle of the Heidschnuckenweg. Easy to reach from the parking lot. But it can also be integrated very well into Waderungen, since the path leading there and back is very beautiful.
