Currently about half of wild boar ruffled up properly. Please be careful, the floor is really soft. But the "core areas" are, as always, easy to drive.

Mining has shaped the region. Here is a holdover. The tower is a landmark of Bönen and can be seen from afar. You can always orientate yourself from a distance using the tower.

(Status 05/15/21) Unfortunately, 1/3 of the middle section of the Funkturm Trail is absolutely impassable... bike shoulders are the order of the day! All the trees were felled or knocked over by the storm and lie all over the trail, no chance of getting through!

After about 50m, almost half of the steep route, a narrow single trail leads along above Möhnestrasse. But here you should be able to control your bike very well. The terrain falls steeply downhill towards the road and the trail is very narrow.

The winding tower of the former Königsborn 3/4 mine, built in 1928, can be seen from afar. His architect Alfred Fischer is one of the most important industrial building architects in the Ruhr area, along with the colliery builder Fritz Schupp. From 1911 until his impeachment by the National Socialists in 1933, he was the head of the Kunstgewerbeschule in Essen (later Folkwangschule). The winding tower erected on the Königsborn 3/4 shaft is today an important document of the architectural and historical development in industrial construction in the twenties. It embodies the transition to functionalism and has become the model for most modern winding towers.
