Alpe Bolla is a mountain pasture at 1,129 m above sea level with an alpine refuge located in the lower Val Colla, above the town of Cadro, Canton Ticino. It is easily reached from Cadro, Cureggia or Brè-Aldesago in just over an hour's walk on an easy marked path through the woods. Capanna Alpe Bolla offers meals and drinks but reservations are recommended due to the limited space available.

The hut is located on the ridge that connects the Trodo Valley and the Duragno Valley. Located just below the peak of Pizzo Tamaro, from this hut and in its immediate vicinity you can enjoy a wonderful view of the valley floor; The hut was created from an old military building dating back to 1914 and modernized several times. Its strategic position makes it an obligatory point of passage on the Tamaro-Monte Lema crossing.

Terminus point for solid touring bikes or Gravel, from here on everything becomes Trail only exclusively for MTB. If you have struggled up to Alpe Foppa it is worth getting here to have a nice break with a priceless view.

It was a strenuous tour. At the small bar on Alpe Bolla, a man was setting up the bar after the winter break. We asked him if we could have a drink with him. He said he doesn't open the economy until April 1st, but he's happy to serve us something. So we ordered two fine Gazosa lemonades, a Ticino specialty. The friendly host talked to us for a while about local facts. He grew up in the area and is bilingual, so we were able to speak to him in Swiss German. We also talked about the water problem, as there is less and less rain and snow. His water source is still running well. He has also set up a drinking place for dogs, which his Bergamasque dog uses. If you want to go on the tour with a dog, you should take enough water with you. We didn't pass any streams that had water. In the end, Wirt didn't want to take any payment because he wasn't even open yet. Of course it didn't work that way. We can highly recommend the mountain restaurant with the friendly innkeeper.
