Capanna Al Legn is an Alpine refuge located at 1,802 meters above sea level on the slopes of Gridone, above Brissago, in the Canton of Ticino. Inaugurated in 1995, the modern structure is spread over three floors and offers 12 beds, a kitchen equipped with wood and gas stoves, hot and cold water, toilets and a shower. The hut is accessible all year round via paths that start from the Brissago mountains, with a travel time of about two hours. From its panoramic position, you can enjoy a breathtaking view of Lake Maggiore and the Brissago Islands. The use of a sleeping bag is mandatory, available on site at a cost of CHF 7. Just below the summit of Monte Cimetta you will find the cable car station and a restaurant. Very beautiful and scenic place and surroundings. I recommend a climb to Cimetta, also consider the possibility of various excursions starting from here. Check the availability of sports at the restaurant, in the summer months it can be very busy.

A fantastic mountain pasture for a scenic break. A visit to Santa Maria degli Angeli is a must. Designed by world-renowned architect Mario Botta, with paintings by Enzo Cucchi, it is a masterpiece of contemporary architecture. The church is easily accessible by cable car. A dirt road is accessible, and circular tours are only possible with mountain bikes for descents on the other side.

One of our favorite hikes in Ticino! Scenic driveway with the post bus from Magadino. Short climb from the Alpe di Neggia (unfortunately closed), magnificent view from Monte Gambarogno and a beautiful, comfortable descent to Alpe Cedullo (be sure to stop off). Mostly through Buchenwald down to Indemini and with the post bus (note the timetable!) back to Magadino.

You should definitely take a look at Cimetta when you are already up here, then you can also use the chairlift to climb the altitude difference. My recommendation is to walk down to the Cardada station (60 minutes) and then take the cable car down again, on foot it is otherwise a difficult 8 km with a walking time of around 3 hours.

Very special and beautiful church of Santa Maria degli Angeli. Mario Botta designed the church and I think it's very successful. I find the play of light and shadow in sunlight very successful. For me an absolute "must" in Ticino!

Coming with the ascent from Sant'Agata and past San Luca, there is the small village of Marcalone. Up to this point you have already reached the 850 meter mark. There is a restaurant within the small village that invites you to take a breather. There are also overnight accommodations and a gravel road up to the village. From here, the ascent of the last stage to the summit cross can alternatively be started.

The chapel was designed by Mario Botta between 1990 and 1992 and was made of concrete and porphyry until 1996.
