Lake Bled / Bled Lake Formation of the Lake The unique shape of the lake as we know it today is no coincidence. Its location once occupied a tectonic basin, carved out over the years by the Bohinj Glacier. Its path was obstructed by an enormous rock, which it eroded so persistently that only the current island remained. The ice melted, the basin flooded with water, and Lake Bled was formed. With depths of up to 30 meters in some places, it is a delight for divers. The lake is home to 19 different species of fish, including carp, catfish, and lake trout, and its surface is home to ducks, swans, and a diverse range of vegetation. You have a great view of the lake from here, even though there are quite a few people around.

From the promenade in Bled you have great views of the lake, island and castle. Quite busy here.

Lake Bled is an unmissable destination for anyone traveling to Slovenia. It is iconic for the small island located in the middle and the castle that rises above the lake. It also features hot springs and was among the candidates for the New Seven Wonders of the World. You can get around everything on foot or by bike; the distance is about six kilometers.

Boat trip to the island is really worth it. you have a great view of Bled and the mountains.

When I was on vacation at Lake Wörthersee, I drove here. It was breathtaking to walk through the gorge. That was one of the highlights of my vacation at Lake Wörthersee. 😊
