You climb through the forest, accompanied by the feeling that something great awaits up there. No drama. Rather, a wide view that quietly puts things in order. And then you're standing there – at the Karawanksblick. In front of you, Lake Wörthersee, behind you, the peaks like a painted horizon. In between: light. Air. And plenty of space to breathe. The name is almost too sober for what opens up there. Not a postcard view, but one that feels like a memory you've just experienced. The forest is reverently silent, the panorama speaks in soft colors. The lake lies there like a spread-out silk scarf – turquoise, gently moving, flanked by a wreath of trees and villages. Those who like can sit in the pavilion, which looks a bit like a fairytale cottage for weary hikers. Others lie down on the grass and let their gaze wander, as if trying to preserve it. For later. For the desk. For November. At the Karawankenblick, you not only see how beautiful it is – you also understand why sometimes you just have to take a break to find yourself again.

Easily navigable in Slovenian. On the Carinthian side, the last way to the saddle or from Slovenia is the first way after the border, very narrow and not really passable. It's quite overgrown and sometimes dangerous. Altogether from Slovenia to Carinthia feasible. I wouldn't drive it the other way. Up through all the scree, from Carinthia to Slovenia, is definitely no fun.

Wonderful descent towards Drautal when you come from Faaker See. Curvy through the forest: great!

Nice climb, almost no traffic and good surface for road cycling

On my tour there was very little traffic on the piece, but since it is a federal road, that can change. In the lower part the ascent is not too steep. Only from Unterloibl does it get steeper but at the same time more beautiful in terms of nature and the views. On the descent you can build up a lot of speed here and thanks to the relatively large number of visible curves, it's great fun!

"Easily" accessible from the Slovenian side by mountain bike. From the Carinthian side, after the good gravel path through the Dürrengraben, despite a few rockfalls, it is over at some point. The last way to the saddle from this side leads through an initially short steep ascent on a narrow hiking trail through the forest in long serpentines to the saddle.

Small "pass" between the Bleiberg and the Petelin. Little to no traffic, almost continuously in the forest. Road surface in good condition, at least no holes.
