8月 13, 2023, Sarojasattel Border Pass (Liechtenstein–Austria)
Sarojasattel border pass (FL/A) Alpine area and border pass (FL/A) on the northern foothills of the Dreischwestern massif. Between the Plankner Alp Gafadura and the Alp Sarjoa on the east side of the ridge (municipality of Frastanz, Vorarlberg, 1477 m above sea level) lies the Sarojasattel, which extends to Planken, Eschen and Frastanz, at 1628–1650 m above sea level. First mentioned in 1319 (Soloyen) as a border point of a land peace area decreed by Duke Leopold of Austria. According to the Montfort-Feldkircher Urbar (1363), Walsers paid a monetary interest to "Sologen" (Saroja), which is interpreted as an indication of settlement in the area that lasted until the middle of the 15th century. In 1416, the Alp Saroja, which at the time belonged to Uli Vogt, came into the possession of the municipality of Frastanz through exchange. The Plankners secured a right of way over Saroja to their Alp Garselli. The Brandisische Urbar (around 1510) counts the Alp Saroja - although it belongs to the municipality of Frastanz - as part of the Alps of the County of Vaduz; until 1858, Saroja had to pay the bird milking fee to the Liechtenstein sovereign. Despite the steepness and inaccessibility of the terrain, the Sarojasattel (passage Schaan-Planken-Amerlügen-Frastanz) had a certain military significance, and in the Middle Ages, as a connection between the County of Vaduz and the County of Sonnenberg, it may also have been of commercial importance. In the Swabian War of 1499, Uli Mariss von Schaan is said to have led 2000 Swiss confederates over this pass into the flank of the Austrian army, thereby enabling them to win the Battle of Frastanz (April 20, 1499). In the Coalition Wars in 1799, imperial troops fled from the French to Saroja and built a 300 m long defensive structure (trenches) in the northern part of the saddle (Frastanzeregg). Saroja was always important for smuggling and escape. Text / Qurllr: Author: Oliver Stahl | Status: 12/31/2011 file:///C:/Users/Paul%20Kaiser/Downloads/Saroja.pdf

7月 28, 2022, Zum Charly at Furkajoch Pass
Furkajoch 1759 m The Furkajoch is a mountain pass (pass height 1759 m above sea level, up to 14% gradient) in the Alps (Eastern Alps, Northern Limestone Alps). It connects the valley of the Bregenzer Ach (Bregenzerwald) near Damüls with the valley of the Frutz (Laternsertal) near Laterns. The Furkajoch (Italian forca 'mountain pass', name with Romansh roots) is a pass crossing with ancient but purely local significance. The pass path, which until recently was little more than a natural path, was correspondingly simply developed. Only a few years ago, a modern, narrow road was built over the Furkajoch, the state road L 51 Laternser Straße Rankweil – Laterns – Damüls. The route is popular with motorcyclists and is closed in winter. Text/Source: Wikipedia https://de.wikipedia.org/wiki/Furkajoch

Very nice pass, best to drive from Au, steady steep ascent (approx. 17km 7%), with a few flat pieces in between, very little traffic and great road and always a beautiful alpine panorama in view

The first 30 minutes, which the track tries to guide you through the forest in a very idiosyncratic way, was now suboptimal in midsummer. Some of the paths were already quite overgrown. Even the piece that forces you to use a railway bridge over the river was borderline for me. Well, the railway bridge has a small makeshift road on the left, but I wasn't sure whether it was legal to use it. Otherwise, the rest of the way to the Sattelboden is really nice. There are some nice huts on the way. As an analog biker, you feel like a dinosaur that is dying out, based on the large number of e-bikers who have used this track today. Nevertheless, I still met 4 analog bikes on the way up :-) The bike parkour from the Brandner cable car is recommended as the way down. It's fun. There are actually no sliding sections. The landscape is really great. Thanks for the tip!

On the way to the Hohe Matona you pass this viewpoint with a bench, the Matonajöchle. It is always worthwhile to pause and enjoy the wonderful landscape and if you are at this point the summit of the Hohe Matona is not far.

Demanding incline from Au with initially 14%. After a bit flatter sections, almost a 12% gradient. Above you will be rewarded with a good view. In addition, a small kiosk invites you to linger.

The way to the high Freschen is not far away. However, technically very demanding with the bike.

Because of fog, the visibility was almost zero. Can not say anything about the highlight (unfortunately).
