Very nice path. At the beginning it goes steeply over stones and roots. About halfway through it becomes flatter until you reach the carriage path. It can be quite muddy there. Caution: MTBs may come towards you. Sure-footedness is an advantage when descending. I can recommend the trail

At 50 meters, the highest slag heap in the city offers an impressive 360-degree view. Mountain bikers will find the best training conditions here on their own track. Treat each other with respect. The landmark is the "Slab" by the sculptor Richard Serra.

The Schurenbachhalde is an approximately 50 meter high (highest point 86 m above sea level)[1] coal mining dump in the Altenessen district of Essen. The dump is named after the “Schurenbach” body of water that was buried beneath it from the 1970s[1] and is located directly on the Rhine-Herne Canal, between Emscherstrasse and Nordsternstrasse and near the Nordsternpark Gelsenkirchen. The dump was used by the Zollverein colliery to store overburden until it was closed in 1986. Until the mid-1990s, other hard coal mines also dumped their waste on this tailings pile. The heap was then renatured and converted into a landscape monument. At the top of the heap is the landmark of the 15 meter high sculpture Bramme for the Ruhr area by the American artist Richard Serra, erected in 1998.
