全長4km以上に及ぶブロートゥン断崖では、毎年50cmから100cmの崖がバルト海に崩落しています。これは自然のプロセスであり、自然保護区に指定されたことで介入することはできません。 かつてのファルケンホーム「ゼーブリック」は現在、崖の崩落端のすぐそばに建っているため、この家は2024年中に解体される予定です。

Area worth seeing with a good path on the steep bank along Niendorf in the direction of Hermannshöhe, or further in the direction of Travemünde.

On the densely populated Bay of Lübeck there is an almost undeveloped stretch of coast: the Brodten steep bank. The country there, in the Brodtener Winkel between Travemünde and Niendorf, juts out like a cape into the Baltic Sea. Rare sand martins build their nests on the cliff, which is up to 20 meters high. Large parts of the shore belong to the European bird sanctuary and are under nature protection. Wind and waves gnaw at the cliff, especially in winter, and parts of the mixture of sand, loam and clay regularly break off. Stones are uncovered, some billions of years old and carried from Scandinavia to the southern Baltic Sea during the Ice Age. Geologists offer guided tours where participants learn many details about the origin and formation of the sediments. The walk offers a panoramic view of the Bay of Lübeck. The Brodten steep bank is a worthwhile destination for a walk along the coast. A comfortable footpath and cycle path runs above the natural beach. About halfway between Niendorf and Hermannshöhe, a staircase leads down to the natural beach. If you start in Niendorf, you first walk along extensive fields. Again and again there are wide views over the bay to the coastline in the north with bathing resorts such as Sierksdorf and Grömitz.
