Steep incline, not for the faint hearted!

One of just four trig pillars in the Howgills, the remote and tranquil Green Bell is a great vantage point to view the Yorkshire Dales, Lake District Fells and Northern Pennines from a single spot

This is actually the location of the topographic cairn, which is a really good view point out over the surrounding Dales, and of the Nine Standards, which sit nearby to the north within a few hundred metres. A bit further to the south is the actual summit point of Nine Standards Rigg itself, which is marked by a trig point.

Nearby to the true summit is a quaint trig pointed marker with some seating.

This is a lovely broad summit, and one of the nicest trig pointed tops out there. To come here on a nice day is a lovely experience. The summit is set back quite a bit from the escarpment, so there is not much of a view from there, but there is a nice seat to park your butt on for a while.

An awe-inspiring place. The walk in across the bottom of the dale is easy with constant views and the rumbling of the looming waterfall. Climbing the path alongside the cascade is recommended, although it becomes very steep on the rough stone steps. From here, you can continue to the top of The Calf, the highest point in the area.

Wild Boar Fell is a fine peak towering above the Mallerstang valley. The 4th highest peak in the Yorkshire Dales, its summit is at 708m (2323ft).

Wild Boar Fell is at 708m and is one of the best summits in the Dales, in my humble opinion, for views. From here, Howgill Fells are available to your eyes in all their glory. The settlements of Newbiggin-on-Lune and Ravenstonedale are also visible from here, and so much more. There is a shelter here where you can sit and rest your weary legs that have run you all the way up here!

Green Bell (605m) is one of the highest summits in the northern Howgills. Probably the most obvious other hill to see from here is Randyhill Top to the south-west and Knoutsberry, immediately to the east, but it is beautiful in any direction from here, and one doesn't quite know what to pay attention the most to.

This tarn and, in fact, the surrounding area, is a Site of Special Scientific Interest (SSSI): this is largely because of the limestone areas that surround it. The tarn is a marl lake, with lots of ferns around it. A beautiful place with a rugged feel to the area.

I think this mountain is 712 ft .I could be wrong I started my route straight from the pub I stayed at.was pleased I didn't have to drive.

Cautley Spout waterfall is reported to have the highest drop in England at 180m. It's certainly spectacular!

A 708m high mountain in the Vale of Eden and the Yorkshire Dales National Park. It's a great walk via the ridgeline over Swarth Fell from Garsdale. It's named after the wild boar that used to roam this area.

Very beautiful and exceptionally high waterfall. You can view them from different angles during the ascent.
