Legend has it that the springs appeared when Olav struck his staff on the ground, making water flow from the earth.

According to legend, the Trinity Spring (Trefaldighetskällan) on St. Olav's Way near Frösödal has been used since the Middle Ages. Pilgrims are said to have rested here. Its water was considered life-giving, cleansing and refreshing. According to an old folk belief, triple springs like this one are water springs with special healing powers. Trinity springs often have medieval, Catholic origins, but could also have been Nordic sacrificial or cult sites before that.

A short circular hike on Lillsjön on the outskirts of the city is worthwhile for an evening walk or very early before the dog owners come. Or maybe you are one yourself :-).
