A lovely spot to linger.

Partly new, partly somewhat rougher older road surfaces on the embankments of the Rhine and the Alsace Canal. Occasional cyclists, but no cars.

The island is home to many different biotopes, including several rare animal and plant species. It is approximately 10km long from north to south and up to 400m wide.

I had a quiet night there

Nature reserve on the Rhine island of Rhinau. The area runs for about seven kilometers parallel to the Taubergiessen on the German side. Absolute peace and quiet, with only the sound of birds chirping – very pleasant. The route is great. No cars and very few pedestrians and cyclists. The Rhine is closer to you than on almost any other route. In addition, the route gives you such a great feeling. As if you were on a coastal road in California.
