The Andreas Maurer Bridge is a striking structure for all those traveling on the Danube Cycle Path (R1). It is not only an important traffic artery but also a strategic point for cyclists in eastern Austria. The bridge spans the Danube near Bad Deutsch-Altenburg and connects the south bank (Bruck an der Leitha district) with the north bank (near Stopfenreuth, Gänserndorf district).

Schloss Hof (formerly Schloßhof, originally Hoff an der March) is the largest of the six Marchfeld castles. It is located east of Vienna in the village of Schloßhof in the market town of Engelhartstetten.

Great for a short stop

Marchegg Castle is a Baroque castle. It is one of the six Marchfeld castles. The first documented mention of a castle dates back to 1346. At the beginning of the 17th century, Marchegg Castle was demolished except for one tower and rebuilt as a square moated castle. In 1715, the castle was rebuilt in the Baroque style. During this process, the moat was filled in. For the next two centuries, the castle served primarily as a hunting lodge and summer residence for the Pálffy family. In 1947, with the death of Ladislaus Pálffy, the Marchegg branch of the Pálffy family died out. In 1957, the town of Marchegg, with the help of the state of Lower Austria, acquired the castle after it had already been slated for demolition.
