Beautiful beech forest as the start and end point of our walk.

From the bridge, you can already see the first beaver dam. Further on, there's another one, and you'll also see beaver lodges and information boards about our friend, the beaver. But here too, the area is packed with information boards, both old and new. There's also a picnic table.

In the 18th century, this was a pedestrian crossing, especially for residents of the hamlets of Werchter located across the Laak River. Tremelo was not yet an independent municipality or parish at the time. The residents relied on Werchter for their civic and religious duties. The Balenberg in Baal is much more than just a hill. This is the home base of the Sven Nys Cycling Center, where sports, nature and experience come together. With its modest height, the Balenberg is an ideal place for those who want to test their legs on a short climb, but also for families who like to walk or cycle in a green environment. At the top of the hill you can enjoy a beautiful view over the Hageland, and in the museum you can discover the impressive story of cyclo-cross legend Sven Nys. The surrounding routes take you over gravel paths, sunken roads and quiet country roads — perfect for both the sporty cyclist and the recreational walker. Beautiful single tracks between the trees and along babbling brooks

A small slope, but an excellent place to have a quiet drink during the bike ride. Bikes can be safely secured and there is a possibility to charge. From the terrace a beautiful view of the area. There is also a bike museum and associated shop. Ideal stop during a bike ride through the area.
