メッシーネ庭園は、19世紀の大邸宅に属していました。庭園のハイライトは、装飾的な鋳鉄製の橋とあずまやのある、奇妙な池です。庭園には数体の彫刻もあります。

Beautiful walking area, not greasy even after heavy rain (some places were greasy, but easy to avoid).

As #Els wrote earlier: the vast majority of the forest is still quite young. It is therefore noticeable that there are still many young trees and 'lots' of planting have been marked. Already a charming forest, but it promises that it will only become more beautiful and valuable in the coming decades. Tip: With the Baliekouter in Wakken just a stone's throw away, you can make a beautiful loop between two beautiful pieces of nature.

Because a number of 'miraculous cures' in the region in the 19th century were attributed to the intervention of Saint Arnold, who is said to have given the water of the local spring medicinal properties, this place became a place of pilgrimage. A (Sint-Arnoldus) chapel was built and artificial rocks (in typical Belgian 'cement rustic' style), ponds, fountains, walking paths and a sunbathing area were added.
