Construction of Cleeberg Castle began around 1130. The 20.6-meter-high tower is a particularly prominent feature of the structure. In 1845, the municipality of Cleeberg acquired the property and operated a school there until 1950. In 1982, the castle was sold to a group of owners who converted it into private residences.
