Each of the summit crosses that hikers often encounter in the mountains, whether or not it depicts the body of the crucified Christ, invites passersby to a brief spiritual pause. Perhaps one or another will be able to encounter God here in a short prayer. As a prerequisite for a completely different mystical experience of encountering God, beyond such a small sacred monument, Hape Kerkeling, who made the pilgrimage on the Camino Francés in 2001, writes: “I am becoming freer here day by day (…) Through all the frequencies of emotion, I have slowly tuned myself into one frequency and had a wonderful reception. Total serene emptiness is the state that creates a vacuum which God can then calmly and completely fill.” (Hape Kerkeling in “I’m Off Then”)

The area isn't entirely spectacular, but it's very beautiful for easy hikes. Shady forests, the Stagno Sa Curcurica with its long shoreline path, the Stagno Biderosa, a magnificent elevated vantage point, and a long, often sparsely visited beach by the sea offer many highlights in a relatively small area. Most visitors only go to the beach; the other hiking trails are usually empty.

A beautifully designed and monumental cross with the larger-than-life body of the crucified Christ crowns Monte Tuttavista. However, Italy's most famous crucifix is not found on the mountaintops, but in literature: The author Giovanni Guareschi, spiritual father of the protagonists 'Don Camillo' and 'Peppone,' incorporated another main character into his stories – known and loved far beyond the country's borders: the crucified Christ, who speaks to Don Camillo from the high altar. The author himself makes the following comment: "So one must explain: If the priests feel offended by Don Camillo, they can smash a candlestick on my skull for all I care; if the communists feel offended by Peppone, they can break a club on my back; but if someone feels offended by Christ's speeches, there's nothing one can do. Whoever speaks in my stories... is my Christ, that is, the voice of my conscience. My personal business, my cause. And therefore: each for himself, and God for all." (G. Guareschi)

Top of the mountain, 360° view

A breathtaking coastal paradise. The beach of Capo Comino, in the Siniscola area, in the Baronìa, has very fine white sand that forms huge, brilliant white dunes interspersed with juniper, typical Mediterranean plants and rocks scattered along the coast. The sea is characterized by its particularly light blue color. The water is crystal clear and blends perfectly with the green vegetation and the island of Ruja, a red porphyry rock that you can swim or walk to. To the south, where the area becomes rocky, there is a lighthouse near the headland for which this area is named.

The Oasi Biderosa is more than just a reserve; it is a portal to pristine, wild beaches, immersed in the beauty of the Sardinian landscape. With every step you take, a new path opens up, leading to one of five stunning beaches. As you walk, you can't help but admire the magnificent color contrasts and views that unfold before you like a living painting. One of the most beautiful things about the Biderosa is that its beauty is protected. Only 140 cars are allowed in daily, ensuring that the peace and integrity of this paradise is maintained. If you come with a camper van, you will have to park it at the entrance, but that's a small price to pay for what awaits you: a perfect day of hiking, wondering and a refreshing swim in the crystal clear waters of the Sardinian coast.
