It takes its name from the presence of a monumental silver fir tree over 30 meters high with a circumference of about 5 meters. In addition to its imposing size, what makes it special is the arm that rises 50 cm from the ground with a diameter slightly smaller than the main trunk.

This stretch of asphalt road, isolated and quiet, winds through the woods of the Aspromonte Park, where every now and then it is possible to spot ancient oak trees and fresh springs. It extends from the Materazzelli area to the former NATO base.

Always gentle slopes and at high altitude, among beech and fir forests. A monotony that never tires.

In this stretch of the Aspromonte Park there are places and monuments linked to the history of Garibaldi and the Landing of the Thousand. About 7 km from Gambarie, in the thick vegetation are the Mausoleum and the Cippo di Garibaldi; it is here that the General was laid down by his soldiers after being wounded in a fire fight in Aspromonte.

This stretch of the Calabria Parks Cycle Route goes from the Mercante pass to the Zomaro, from the Zilastro plains to Zervò. Crossing Aspromonte towards Gambarie and it's really exciting. Nature is anything but harsh: you travel for kilometers surrounded by giant ferns at over a thousand meters above sea level among beech trees, centuries-old fir trees and sudden green prairies. It is in this stretch, near Villagio Trepitò, that you can admire the Mundu and Galasìa waterfalls, a spectacle of nature that has no equal. The descent that leads to the waterfalls must be done on foot, but it is an experience you will never forget. In this area there are also two precious refuges for those who practice cycle tourism, namely "Il Boschetto fioreto" and "Il biancospino". They offer fantastic hospitality, as does the former Zervò sanatorium, transformed into a community open to those who pass by.

The Vallescura waterfall is located near Gambarie d'Aspromonte. It is located along the "Path of the Fairies."
