Neu-Falkenstein Castle is one of the most beautiful and largest ruins in the canton of Solothurn. The climb to the castle is rewarded with a wonderful view over the Balstahl Gorge, especially if you climb the keep.

The Balmfluh castle ruins are clearly visible from the trail. It's worth getting off your bike for a moment and taking a look at the old walls.

Despite its name, it is believed that the castle is older than Alt-Falkenstein Castle, located further down the valley on the other side. It was the seat of the Swiss noble Falkenstein family.

A climb that is worth it. Bring some time and enjoy the view and the beautiful barbecue areas. The climb up the tower is very narrow. It is best to leave large backpacks under supervision below. The castle is best enjoyed from Monday to Friday ;-) Built as a bailiff's castle in 1200 by the mighty Count of Frohburg. Spectacular views in all directions!

The approximately 800-year-old Wildenstein Castle is a well-preserved hilltop castle and is owned by the canton of Basel-Landschaft. There are public guided tours from May to October, and the information trail around the castle is open throughout.
