It is a rebalancing area of over 13 hectares, 40% of which is occupied by a residual reservoir from the cultivation of an abandoned open-air clay quarry, filled over time with spring and rainwater, where a thick hedge, also dotted with tall trees, it flanks the right side of the lake and the spontaneous vegetation acts as a refuge for numerous species of resident and transient birds.

Naturalistic area on the bank of the Po river. It is believed that the name is due to the concession, in 1945, of this territory to a group of former prisoners of the Second World War. At the end of the war, the local authorities tried, in this way, to reintegrate former fighters and concentration camp prisoners into the world of work. The main activity was the exploitation of the wood present in the area.

An oasis of peace surrounded by nature

Beautiful floodplain area between Gualtieri and Boretto. Paths, beaches and now also two wrecks of the Second World War re-emerged from the dry Po. Really worth a ride.

Ancient bridge inside the Novellara and Reggiolo Valleys, which leads to the Casa del Vigliacco (Cà dal Vigliac). The bridge is truly impressive and worth a visit, especially during a cool spring sunset.

The development of the gardens began in 1850 with the destruction of the citadel, a defensive fortress built by the Gonzagas in 1339. Originally used as a racecourse (until the early 1900s), the area was later converted into a public park. The construction of the Municipal Theater was crucial, with the need to embellish the space behind it: an Italian style was chosen for the gardens, with regular spacing of the avenues and green spaces, based on a design by Giuseppe Balzaretto. Various monuments, statues and busts have been placed over the years among the precious trees, rare plants and large green spaces, including the fountain dedicated to Abbot Ferrari Bonini in 1885, the statues of the "four seasons" dating from the 1920s moved to the Ducal Palace in Rivalta.
