a particular form of agricultural organization, a particular way of organizing the lawns. This way was realized starting from the eleventh century by the Benedictine monks and consists of a network of ditches that subdivide the land cultivated exclusively with stable grass, that is, lawn that is never plowed for cultivation. But what was special about this form of "cultivation"? It exploited the constant presence of water which, combined with the shading and therefore refreshing effect of the tall trees, placed on the perimeter of each particle, maintained a humid and constant microclimate, such as to guarantee a high number of cuttings, (even seven in one season). Unique wealth for those who lived exclusively on land. Unfortunately today only a few "holds" remain. Even if the water no longer flows in the ditches due to the lowering of the water table, the closed fields are still appreciated for the beauty of their carpet of grass, intense green even in winter.

Natural area including the spring pools (fontanassi) where the Sile originates. The oasis is made up of single tracks that can be cycled on and wooden walkways with information panels where, by regulation, you must proceed with your bike in hand.

Suggestive place, the park is still in its wild state (let's hope it stays that way) from here or in any case here in the area there is the birth of the Sile. All very beautiful. Have a nice trip people……

What are the "Fontanassi"? It is said that rainwater from the mountains and underground branches of the Piave River flow into the particularly permeable subsoil of this region, up to Casacorba. In this locality, characterized by a peat surface, these waters rise spontaneously from the subsoil, thus giving life to the river path of the Sile. The largest and oldest springs, those "dea coa longa" and of the priest ", are in an area of the park that can only be reached if equipped with footwear that allows you to walk, in the vast bush surrounding them on a soil composed mainly of" peat " ". To see them they look like large pools of water. By observing them better in these pools, one can glimpse; both on the bottom and on the side banks, bubbles of water that rise towards the surface and, in a very small space, give rise to the course of the Sile For most, who prefer a Sunday walk without particular difficulties, we recommend the path called "La Porta dell'Acqua" in Casacorba di Vedelago - Via Santa Brigida, which allows you to follow a fascinating stretch of the rising branches of the Sile; some spring springs are clearly visible.
