The gullies are the result of a geomorphological phenomenon of soil erosion. They are easily recognizable as they have narrow, sharp furrows in the ground along the side of a mountain or hill. Along this path, through which Piccola Cassia passes, you can admire a breathtaking landscape that reveals the extraordinary power of nature.

The park dates back to 1598 and inside there is the Vigarani palace built in 1634. It is currently also a cultural space thanks to the presence of various international exhibitions. The pond and the different species of trees make it a perfect place for a relaxing walk.

Accessible from Serravalle castle via the CAI route, a view of a beautiful gully, a fairly simple walk. If you want there is a road on the side of the pignoletto path to reach after a few steps

The path, short and circular, develops on the slopes of the hill facing the castle and combines the interest relating to the traditional landscape of the hill with the historical one linked to the fortifications which in medieval times completed the defensive system of the castle of Monteveglio, affecting precisely the Cucherla hill (296 m) and other nearby reliefs. It, called Monte Calvario between the 17th and 18th centuries due to its bare appearance and a cross on the top, housed the chapel known as the Madonna della Cucherla. Today the top of the relief, which can be reached by skirting an ancient vineyard, is covered by a coppice of downy oak and manna ash. In spring and early summer, various species of orchids, all protected, bloom in the brightest spots. On the southern slope, thanks to the favorable microclimate, specimens of fig, almond and olive trees grow. Source: https://enteparchi.bo.it/itinerary-2-salita-a-monte-gennaro/

The climb passes through a beautiful valley surrounded by greenery, and when you reach the top you can enjoy a spectacular view first of the badlands of the area, then over the whole valley, until you see the plain. Paved in 2022. Highly recommended, but pay attention to the slopes (about 2km at 10%).

The Rio Ramato valley The Rio Ramato valley is among the areas of greatest naturalistic value in the park due to the presence of rare species such as the snowdrop. The name of the river is due to a ferruginous source that flows from the rock, known as copper water due to the color due to iron oxides and hydroxides. Currently, the park is strongly characterized by the original design and the presence of the valuable Vigarani building, which appears in all main perspectives. At the level of vegetation, the presence of trees of different species of considerable size and importance should be highlighted.

The transformation into a garden was carried out in the following years following a common typology in the Renaissance garden. In 1634 the construction works of the Vigarani building were also completed, a beautifully made building that preserves the classic features of seventeenth-century architecture. Subsequently, after almost a century of neglect, under the court of Francesco III, the botanical garden was created, the internal structure of the park was restored up to the substantial changes that took place in the mid-19th century which gave us a "mixed" garden area. with an area with well-designed flower beds to maintain a formal connection with the various ducal buildings and the remaining grove areas. Currently the park is strongly characterized by the original design and by the presence of the valuable Vigarani building which emerges from all the main perspectives. In terms of vegetation, the presence of trees belonging to different species of considerable size and importance should be emphasized.

Beautiful road that from Crespellano climbs towards San Lorenzo in Collina. Some sections with a significant slope and the last section with a well-kept dirt road. Gravel pleasure!
