In 1518 it was inherited by the Adorno family who equipped it with five pieces of bronze cannon and a castellan guard. The decline of the fortress began in 1797 with the suppression of the Imperial Feuds by Napoleon who brought the armaments to France. In the 19th century it was almost completely destroyed by a fire, then it became the property of the Beroldo family whose heirs donated it to the municipality of Vobbia. The current appearance of the castle is the result of a great volunteer effort that freed the structure from the rubble. The walls were consolidated by rebuilding the missing parts and the wooden roof. To make the castle accessible, the floors and wooden stairs with reticular metal elements were made. In 1994 it was opened to the public for the first time and over the years its tourist usability has been improved.
