The Cugnolo forest is located immediately above the village of Torre di Palme

In itself the place is like any other in these parts, the exceptional thing lies in the fact that a Caretta Caretta has laid its eggs on this beach which is anything but deserted. The Harbor Office has fenced off the area and is now waiting for the eggs to hatch....

The Boschetto del Cugnolo is a protected area made up of Mediterranean scrub that grows on a fossil dune from the Pliocene. It is crossed by a circular path of about two kilometers, which offers splendid views of the sea and the village of Torre di Palme, and allows you to reach the Grotta degli Amanti, a suggestive natural cavity.

Inside the 7-hectare natural area of the Bosco di Cupramarittima, there is a ditch called Cacarabbia which has rocky walls carved out by the water. It is surrounded by lush vegetation, with trees, ferns and ivy, and the path alternates sections of singletrack and wooden walkways.

The Fosso Cupo has created a chasm (between Torre di Palme and Bosco del Cugnolo), which resembles a canyon.

The Grotta degli Amanti has two entrances, it is a cavity that was probably formed by the forces of the water. The name is inspired by a love story between the two subjects Antonio and Laurina, who fled here during the First World War (he was a soldier and decided to stay here with her instead of going back to war).
