Climb from Palazzo del Pero to Passo della Dogana (towards S. Maria alla Rassinata), about 6 km of climbing with sections at 13%, a piece of about 500-600m is all above 11% with hairpin bends. The road is very quiet because there is little traffic. Views of the Valdichiana from above and of the Val Cerfone. Done on a windy day but the wind could be felt on the plain and then at the top, not on the climb which is more sheltered.

Rassinata side is cold and damp in off-season. wear warm clothes. Beautiful descent toward Ansina with a lot of curves. Check breaks before descending.

Nice views above Cortona. Castiglion del Lago can be seen from this area. Paved road all the way to/from Cortona. Gravel and mtb on the Arezzo side...

Ideal route for road cycling. From the top passes the CAI 50 path that goes from Trasimeno to La Verna.

The Cerventosa pass, on the Umbro-Cortonese provincial road, connects the upper Tiber valley and the Cortona area. The view is beautiful, you can see Monte Amiata, Trasimeno and the plain of Cortona. Handsome!

Murcia del Soldato is located at the crossroads of the paths coming from Poggio Sorbiglione, Petriolo and Marzana, the itinerary that is often followed in the direction of Monte Favalto. The legend tells of the story of a young soldier who had been at war for some years fighting with courage, who escaped death several times and had the desire to return home. Wounded in the shoulder he walked home and when he finally saw the house in the distance, arrived at the crossroads, he stopped to rest. The following morning some shepherds found him lifeless just where he had thought to rest, a few steps from the much agonized house and they thought of burying him there. It is tradition that anyone who passes by throws a stone in memory of the poor soldier.
