The Terme Segestane (also called Polle del Crimiso) are hydrothermal springs located in Sicily in the municipality of Castellammare del Golfo, in the province of Trapani. The first Greeks who inhabited western Sicily linked the phenomenon of the formation of hot waters to a mythological event, according to which the heat of the river waters was released at the behest of a river divinity, Crimiso, to give way to warm up to the nymph Egesta , fleeing from Troy, who found herself unconscious on the shore, and who later became his wife. From them Aceste was procreated, who founded the city of Segesta giving it the name of his mother.

The Terme di Segesta are crossed by the Caldo river, more than 3 meters wide and less than 50 centimeters deep, flowing in its initial stretch between two high rocky walls; the white rock near the river shows deposits of Alcamo travertine, formed by limestone created by the warm waters. On the left bank of the watercourse there are four water veins, with a temperature of about 47 ° C.

Very nice little park with the typical rubber trees. Definitely felt 10° cooler and a light wind. Ideal for a little break in the shade.
