The lake is surrounded by the greenery of the Regional Park. The area is protected and it is forbidden to go up by car, you have to take the free shuttle, or walk for about 4 km

The dirt road starts from below Bracciano, with the majestic Orsini - Odescalchi castle in the background. The first part of the climb is very technical, on rock and with some counter slopes. Then as you go up it is more pedalable. After passing a gate, the road widens and the slopes are gentler and alternate with downhill stretches. The last 2 km before reaching Monte Raschio are the hardest, with constant gradients between 9 and 10%.
