Universal Postal Service Monument, Kleine Schanze, Bern The Universal Postal Service Monument in the "Kleine Schanze" park was erected in 1909. The Universal Postal Service monument, unveiled on October 4, 1909, is the work of the French sculptor René de Saint-Marceaux (1845 - 1915). It is made of granite and bronze and commemorates the founding of the organization in Bern. On the occasion of the 150th anniversary, a dedication was unveiled in front of the monument on October 9, 2024. The monument stands in a very cozy park. Not far from the Federal Palace, with a view of the Aare.

Since spring 2022, the area around Lake Lobsigen has been grazed by water buffalo. Water buffalo are calm, inquisitive animals and friendly towards humans. The water buffalo originally came from Asia, where they are still used for plowing rice fields and as beasts of burden. In Switzerland, buffalo are mainly kept for meat and milk production (including buffalo mozzarella).

Short but beautiful bike descent from the Chutzeturm via the hidden trails to the sandstone caves of Lobsigen and on to Aarberg.
