Tinovul Mare preserves the largest peat reserve (swamp) in Romania. Located in the Eastern Carpathians, at the foot of the Călimani Mountains in the Dornelor Depression, it extends over an area of approximately 682 hectares.

Very short route from Cabana Rarău (15 minutes) with a beautiful view. There are benches and a protective fence on the top.

The route is not just a normal hike, it also requires mild climbing skills (without equipment). I recommend at least footwear that is very grippy on smooth, wet boulders.

For the climb it is recommended to have very grippy shoes because the stones are quite polished from the number of tourists who have visited. There are chains fitted to facilitate climbing/descending.

This village, which is located only 50 kilometers from the Ukrainian border, has kept its traditions alive over the centuries. An interesting little museum about local life is worth visiting. The other interest of the commune is the Pârâul Cailor geological reserve. The orange-red sediments contain Triassic fossils, such as fish, crustaceans and ammonites.

Bukovina is part of the Tara de Sus. Which translates to high country. Bukovina also means the land of beeches. Near this mountain you are both high up and you see many beech groves. So it fits well!

Lake Lezer is located in Obcina Feredeului, 937 meters above sea level. This lake was formed due to a landslide. A legend says that at the bottom of the lake there is a hidden treasure that belonged to the Tatars. It is protected by numerous vipers and water spirits.

an elongated panoramic summit with a panoramic view of the mountains of the Parcul National Calimani and several valleys. Please be sure to follow the marked paths, as the mountain pine thicket is almost impenetrable, I unfortunately had to experience it myself.
