The Giumalău Mountains represent the western part of the Rarau-Giumalău massif, a mountainous group of the Moldo-Transylvanian Carpathians, belonging to the mountain range of the Eastern Carpathians. The highest fish is the Giumalău Peak, with 1,858 m altitude.
To the west you can see the whole ridge of the Suhard Mountains and behind these mountains you can see the Rodna Mountains. If we turn to the south we see in the distance the Caliman Mountains with their Pietrosul Peak, 2100 m, as well as the Black Hill and a little closer the Ursu chalet
