The Bannalpsee is a popular excursion destination in central Switzerland and is located in the municipality of Wolfenschiessen in the canton of Nidwalden. The lake is located in a beautiful mountain landscape at an altitude of 1587 meters above sea level. In summer, the Bannalpsee can be reached in 8 minutes with the "Fellboden - Bannalpsee cable car" (s'rotä Bähnli). There are various barbecue options (with wood) at the mouth of the mountain stream in the Bannalpsee. I asked around and found out that you can also swim in the lake. Various other hiking options invite you to explore the great landscape and for families with younger children there is the Zwärgliweg. In the Bannalpsee mountain inn, you will receive very friendly service and food. :-) They also offer overnight accommodation.
