Small refuge of the Botticino Alpine troops with picnic area and barbecue

Cascina Margherita is open in the spring/summer period and offers travellers food and refreshments. Traditional cuisine (Salami, melted cheese, polenta, cutting boards). Housed in an old farmhouse, it enjoys a panoramic view of Brescia of rare beauty. Nestled in a green clearing immersed in the woods of Mount Maddalena, it is a fundamental crossroads for DH trails and slopes.

Popular with lovers of MTB Enduro and Downhill disciplines thanks above all to the creation and maintenance of the Cagnolera DH tracks; Susy DH; Margherita DH and Musa DH. Access to the tracks is free.

From here there is a wonderful view especially at sunset and in the evening. very suggestive place.

At this point you can take a break and enjoy the view, eat something in the small equipped area located at the foot of the finish line of the downhill MTB called "Cagnolera". From here continue to the top or alternatives are the dirt road that leads to the life path that takes you back to the church at San Gottardo or the Valfredda path

This is an Alvento Magazine proposed route. The route is beautiful but it should be seriously revised. Right off the bat, a few km from the start you have to illegally cross the railway. Later there are three sections where there are very clear and visible signs prohibiting entrance. The entrance to two of them is not totally blocked and a bike can squeeze in. The entrance to the third one is blocked by a 10 foot tall gate making it impossible to go through. I had to go back a few miles and find an alternative route. Also, FYI, the hike-a-bike section is a challenging S5 Lastly, this is not a route suitable for a gravel bike. You can do it with any bike you want but you will not enjoy it unless you have fat tires. Bottom line, do not follow this route
