From Mystras, take the E4 up to the rest area, then descend the gorge to Parorio. From there, return to Mystras. Approx. 3 hours / 10 km

The trail is now accessible again. Before the chapel (about 50 meters), the hiking trail branches off to the left. Afterward, follow the trail until the end of the gorge. A right turn down will take you to a road. Approximately 2.5 - 3 hours. A very pleasant hike.

The hiking trail splits in the first third. One path leads to the rock chapel. The path ends there, please do not continue, the path is no longer a path and it could be dangerous. The actual hiking trail branches off to the left about 75m before the chapel.

You can use the tavern below as a good starting and ending point. There is also a spring here all year round, which the locals use to stock up on drinking water.

This incredible climb from Sparta tops out at 1,300 metres and climbs up through a steep sided gorge. This climb has everything, hairpins, rock tunnels, cliffs overhanging the road and jaw dropping scenery which continuously changes the whole way up. This is a must ride climb!

Parking Advise: Fountains of Parorion (Πηγές Παρορείου, 37°03'45.4"N 22°22'56.7"E // 37.062612, 22.382420) but start the hike through Mystras from there.

We climbed this ravine as part of our E4 tour and saved the way on the E4 of Mistras, which is also beautiful, but not as beautiful as the gorge.

This gorge is easy to walk on and very impressive. We have combined it with a climb over the yellow trail next to the fort - then descent over the gorge. Definitely recommendable - very varied!
