ケシュトヘイはしばしば「バラトン湖の首都」として知られており、それは当然のことです。湖畔の多くの場所が純粋なリゾート地であるのに対し、ケシュトヘイの街の中心部は、本物の歴史とバロック様式の優雅さを感じさせます。

ケストヘイ城（Festetics城としても知られる）は、ハンガリーで最も重要な文化遺産の一つです。バラトン湖の西岸に位置し、バロック建築と貴族の歴史に興味がある方には必見の場所です。この城は、ハンガリーで最も裕福で影響力のある貴族の一つであるフェステティッチ家の本拠地として2世紀以上にわたり使用されてきました。彼らは城主であっただけでなく、文化、農業、教育の重要な支援者でもありました（例えば、ヨーロッパ初の農業大学であるゲオルギコンを設立しました）。建設は1745年にクリストフ・フェステティッチの下で始まりましたが、19世紀に大規模に拡張され、ネオバロック様式に改築されました。合計101室を備え、ハンガリーで3番目に大きい城郭建築の一つです。

A baroque palace built in the 18th century and now serving as a museum. Surrounded by a large park, the palace houses, among other things, a carriage museum, a palm house, and a hunting exhibition. It was the residence of the Hungarian noble Festetics family for over 200 years. Today, it is known as the Helikon Palace Museum and houses an extensive library and various exhibitions.

In the immediate vicinity of the church square, there are two castles, a small one and a larger one. An information board provides information about the history of the buildings. The larger one is apparently used as a school and was not accessible at the time of my visit.

I hiked to Tatika Castle from the rest area on the road from Heviz to Sümeg. Anyone who has conquered the approximately 2 km hike + about 150 meters of elevation gain will find a true natural paradise. In addition to beautiful views in all directions, you'll find ancient walls, lizards, butterflies, and a diverse flora. I was here in May and had the old castle complex all to myself!

There's a stage in the courtyard. I'm not sure if it's also used for open-air theater. It was closed at the time of my visit.
