The Zarrenthin Kiessee is an artificially created gravel pit lake in the Zarrenthin district of the municipality of Bentzin in the Vorpommern-Greifswald district of Mecklenburg-Western Pomerania. It was created as a result of industrial gravel mining that began in the 1960s. Geologically, the lake lies in a meltwater channel formed during the Weichselian glaciation. It has an area of 54 hectares, a length of 1.5 kilometers, a width of 500 meters, and a maximum depth of up to 28 meters.

Gravel pit with annual festival

The mooring for boats in Lake Kosenow .... The lake takes its name from the village of Kosenow, which according to legend is said to have sunk into it. In 1926, relics of a Wendish settlement were found on its western edge, which can be attributed the documented name Cusenow, or Cosenow, and to whose disappearance the legend certainly refers.

The park pond(s) were created in 1859 during the redesign of the Wieck Castle Park. The second pond was filled in in the 1920s because it had become silted up.

Völschow was first mentioned in documents in the 13th century. The church was also built around this time.
